Topped with a homemade yoghurt frosting and smooth date caramel, it’s the perfect way to start your day on a sweet note.

Ingredients

For the Oats:

  • 1½ cups Lifestyle Food Rolled Oats
  • 2 cups dairy-free milk
  • 1 heaped scoop protein powder
  • 1-2 tbsp sweetener of choice (maple syrup, honey, or your favourite option)
  • Pinch of salt

For the Toppings:

Frosting:

  • Whipped yoghurt (with a sweetener of choice)
  • Vanilla protein powder (for extra flavour)
  • Sweetener of choice (to taste)
  • Chill and place in a ziplock bag for piping.

Date Caramel:

  • 2 cups softened Lifestyle Food Pitted Dates
  • Nut butter (almond, peanut, or your favourite)
  • Dash of salt
  • Dairy-free milk (to make the caramel smooth)
  • Alternatively, mix your favourite nut butter with honey or liquid sweetener to make a simpler caramel.

Method:

  1. Combine the oats, dairy-free milk, protein powder, sweetener, and a pinch of salt. Scoop into bowls and microwave or bake until the oats are cooked to your desired consistency.

  2. Whip the yoghurt with a bit of sweetener and vanilla protein powder until smooth. Chill it in the fridge and place it in a ziplock bag to pipe onto the oats later.

  3. Blend the softened dates with your choice of nut butter until smooth. Add a splash of dairy-free milk and a pinch of salt for a creamy caramel consistency. Alternatively, mix nut butter with honey or sweetener to create a quick caramel.

  4. Once the oats are cooked, snip off the tip of the ziplock bags with the frosting and date caramel. Pipe the frosting and caramel over the oats for a cinnamon-bun-inspired treat.

  5. Serve and enjoy this healthy yet indulgent breakfast!
